3. Screening methodologies
While these PHAs represent a new generation of innovative biopolymers, finding the microorganisms capable of producing them is the first major challenge in the development of these polymers. This screening can be carried out using two approaches:
a cultivation approach involving bacterial metabolism under growing conditions conducive to the synthesis of these PHAs;
a molecular approach based on analysis of the microorganism's genetic profile.
3.1 Cultivation approach
