4. Conclusion

This article begins by presenting the model of wear by extrusion of peripheral burrs based on elasticity theory. This mechanism is induced by ratchet deformations produced by microcontact loading cycles and is active when the pressure at the microcontacts slightly exceeds the elastic accommodation pressure. The model is valid for values of the sliding plasticity index Ψ µ between 1 and 3. Below this value, wear occurs through contact fatigue in the elastic regime with a high number of cycles (High Cycle Fatigue – HCF).

The balance in terms of force, material displacement and energy was then established for the formation of scratches in an RPP solid by conical or spherical asperities with an angle of attack representative of usual roughness.
