8. Complementary measures

Additional measurements are useful for mechanical studies of the machine. For a Francis turbine, we'll mention the following.

  • Torque measurement on steerers

    It is carried out on at least three guides. For a 24-guide valve, for example, guide numbers 2, 12 and 22 will be used to average the operating forces seen by the servomotor. Torques are measured for different valve openings and for different guaranteed drops. They generally show a tendency to close over the entire actuator travel. Director 2 is the second from the tarpaulin inlet. It is the first to show a tendency to open before reaching nominal opening. The transposition to the industrial machine is done in HD 3 .
