Ambient gases other than air: the problem is so vast that it can only be addressed by recommending :
seek specialist advice on corrosion ;
consider the risks of condensation and re-vaporization, the effects of viscosity on lift, the risks of gas ignition on contact with the bearing, which may be heated by seizure, and, with abrasive dust-laden gases, protect bearings with seals.
