2. Corrosion
In PWRs, it is convenient to distinguish between the corrosion processes occurring in each circuit, given the difference in media . The primary circuit is characterized by perfectly controlled chemistry (absence of impurities), a high level of radiation and the exclusive presence of noble materials (stainless steels, nickel alloys, zirconium alloys) (table 1 ). In addition, a higher pressure than that of the circuits with which it interfaces considerably limits the risk of pollution of the primary circuit.
