3.1 Presentation of the "Ancient Heritage Plan
In 1999, a State – plan was inaugurated in France for the renovation and enhancement of the ancient heritage of the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region. The plan involved major monumental complexes (amphitheaters, theaters, crypts, aqueducts, thermal baths, etc.) of vital importance to Mediterranean history and identity, as well as to the region's cultural influence. A number of sites and monuments have been selected for their importance, interest and condition. These sites are as follows:
the amphitheatre and ancient theater of Arles ;
the ancient theater and the ancient arch of Orange ;
