6. Nickel marketing

Depending on the ores processed and the processes used, nickel metallurgy leads to the marketing of four major families of finished products, directly usable by consumers without further refining. These are :

  • nickel metal ;

  • ferronickels ;

  • metallurgical oxides and their by-products;

  • nickel salts and chemical oxides.

In addition to sales of raw ores, two intermediate products give rise to commercial transactions:

  • nickel and cobalt sulfide concentrates ;

  • mattes.
