7.1 Steel mill design

The design of the steel mill must ensure that the arc furnace achieves maximum production, without wasting time on the operations themselves or on auxiliary equipment. It must be designed to operate with a minimum of manpower.

Increased furnace productivity enables the design of compact units comprising :

  • a scrap yard;

  • a melting furnace ;

  • casting ladles;

  • a pocket oven ;

  • a bag-in-box treatment plant;

  • a continuous flow.
