3.1 Capital cost of a large blast furnace
Blast furnace 14 m in diameter at 1991 economic conditions.
There is currently only one project of this size; the cost range would be 770 to 1,000 MDM, or 2,600 to 3,400 MF. The range is in line with the costing of a preliminary design.
In addition, an installation cost (table 6 ) was calculated, based on the detailed cost of a retrofit. The percentage replaced for each item of equipment was estimated, enabling the total cost to be calculated. This total price is valid for a blast furnace equipped with the annexes described above and capable of running for 10 to 12 years.
