Overview
FrançaisABSTRACT
Thin films are widely used as functional coatings in many applications. From a technological point of view, the thermomechanical stability of these coatings is a prerequisite for ensuring their functional stability. However, most of the tests available for characterizing this mechanical stability are unsuited to the study of the adhesion and cohesion of these thin coatings. This is especially true for thin coatings typically thinner than 1 micrometer, and for particle-based coatings. This article describes the ultrasonic cavitation test, which we show to be well-suited to studying the adhesion and cohesion of such thin coatings.
