4. Surface quality control systems

4.1 Degreasing control

Degreasing removes organic products from the surface. These mainly consist of oils and greases used during part manufacture. The effectiveness of this operation determines the extent of surface degradation during subsequent heat treatments, as the contaminants decompose, reacting with the surface and diffusing the chemical elements into the surface layers of the part. Various degreasing control methods are used (see table 4 ).
