7. Post-processing

7.1 Stabilizing annealing

Stabilization annealing is sometimes necessary after the coating has been produced, to give it different properties from those obtained when it left the bath. This annealing enables :

  • improve the coating's adhesion by diffusing it into the underlay or substrate;

  • release the internal stresses created during the deposit ;

  • release gases trapped in the coating during electrolysis.
