Electroplating units generate significant quantities of aqueous effluent, containing the same compounds as those used for plating. The effluents may be acidic (pickling or electroplating baths) or basic (degreasing or electroplating baths), with varying levels of chemical species (CN - , Fe 2+ , Cu 2+ , ..., organic additives). These effluents, produced discontinuously for static rinsing and used bath emptying, and dynamically for routine rinsing, must be detoxified before discharge into the receiving environment (urban collection networks or the natural environment).
