3. Physical characteristics

3.1 Density

At room temperature, the density of spheroidal graphite cast irons decreases as the amount of graphite increases, due to the low density of graphite. It varies from 7,100 kg/m 3 for ferritic grades to 7,200 kg/m 3 for pearlitic grades.
