1. Physical and mechanical properties

In the following, symbols representing the property values of sintered metals will be marked with an apostrophe. Unaffected symbols will be those for compact, cast and forged metals of the same composition and having undergone the same heat treatment.

1.1 Physical properties

Some properties are independent of porosity. These are vector properties, such as expansion, and certain electronic properties, such as thermoelectric power.

Other properties are independent of porosity shape, because they depend only on mass. This is the case of the mass heat capacity.
