7. Conclusion

The deterioration in the quality of drinking water affects the economy and health of people in every country. The causes of surface, ground and marine water pollution are diverse (pesticides and other chemical substances, plastics, inadequate sanitation, etc.). Overall, the foundry sector uses less water than other industrial sectors, with the exception of pressure die-casting.

The Water Framework Directive (WFD) has set environmental objectives and deadlines for improving the ecological and chemical status of surface waters, as well as the quantitative and chemical status of groundwater bodies.
