INTRODUCTION
For the foundry, quality is a source of management improvements and operating savings. The cost of non-quality at all stages of manufacturing (e.g. scrap, defective molds, broken cores, etc.) can amount to as much as 15% of added value.
The quality of castings depends on a multitude of parameters, as many of which need to be controlled to achieve the required level of quality.
These controls, which are an essential part of our "quality" policy, are to be carried out in several areas:
incoming inspections (materials and products purchased externally) ;
in-process controls ;
checks on the various characteristics of the parts ;
inspection of tools and equipment;
the laboratory.
