7. Conclusion
Many industrial sectors use the properties of AMFs (superelasticity, constrained return, mechanical work output, excellent damping capacity). Initially slow and mainly associated with a few specific markets (mainly defense applications), growth in the number of applications accelerated at the end of the 1990s. There are two reasons for this acceleration.
Firstly, a high degree of precision and excellent reproducibility in alloy production were required in the early years of AMF development. The mastery acquired in heat treatment, and in knowledge of the effects of ageing, now makes it possible to adjust the transformation temperature, and to obtain the desired properties in a completely reproducible way, and compatible with the imperatives of industrial production.
