6. Conclusion
The properties of titanium and titanium alloys are extremely varied. This is due to the large number of chemical compositions and microstructure morphologies. These include not only corrosion resistance, often combined with erosion and fire resistance, and biocompatibility, but also excellent mechanical properties (strength, ductility, toughness, fatigue, creep, etc.), enabling the design of thinner, lighter parts.
Titanium alloys can be processed by conventional shaping and heat treatment processes. They require a few precautions during finishing (pickling, machining, welding, etc.).
This attractive range of properties explains the development of applications in the aeronautical, aerospace and chemical fields. Increasingly, however, they are being found in everyday applications, as engineers become more familiar with this class of materials....
