2. Elements of choice

In addition to paragraph 4 of the file on creep-resistant steels, figure 1 shows an abacus outlining the limits of the fields of use of various classes of standardized steels whose characteristics are given in and :

  • the upper limits correspond to creep failure in 10,000 hours ;

  • lower limits correspond to creep elongation of 1% in 100,000 hours (or, in some cases, creep failure in 200,000 hours).
