5. Characterization of a permanent magnet material
In short, such a material can be characterized on the basis of two groups of properties.

Primary properties (linked to demagnetization curve)
The residual induction (B r = µ 0 M r ) gives the residual induction in a closed circuit. It indicates the potential power of the magnet. A high value implies a good level of saturation µ 0 M s , which is provided by Fe and Co atoms, with high intrinsic magnetic moments.
