5. Main applications for permanent magnets

5.1 Fields of application

The main fields of application for permanent magnets are summarized in Figure B below. and in the table 7 . They can be divided into three groups [40] .

  • Electromechanical systems

    They convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, or vice versa. These include electric motors, DC generators and alternators.
