Given the large number of possible compositions for high-entropy alloys, hardness measurements, which are simple and rapid, provide an initial assessment of the mechanical strength of these materials. It should be noted, however, that results are highly dependent on the chemical composition, manufacturing conditions and microstructure of the alloys, which complicates comparisons.
