1. Sandwich geometry

If we mention a sandwich structure (figure 1 ), the reader will have in mind aluminum structures with a honeycomb core. However, the spectrum of combinations of materials, architectures and dimensions is particularly wide. It includes, for example, steel-polymer sheets for the automotive industry, composite and wood skis, and three-dimensional woven structures between two composite facings.
