1. General information and classification

Monopod towers apply horizontal forces and overturning moments to the foundation (figure a ).

Multipole towers lead to pull-out forces on some supports and compressive forces on others; often modest horizontal forces must also be taken into account (figure b ).

Anchor blocks for guyed masts and towers must withstand oblique pull-out forces (figure c ).

The aim is to describe the design of the various foundations appropriate for each type of load and to provide the usual dimensioning methods....
