4. Microseismic logging

4.1 Scope and conditions of application

  • Microseismic logging is an excellent method for the detailed study of rock massifs. It involves measuring the speed of the mechanical compressional wave in situ, which is highly sensitive to the state of the rock and its mechanical properties in general.

    Microseismic logging can also be used to detect fractures.

    It is therefore used to predict the suitability of rock masses for earthworks, to prepare blasting plans for their mining and to adjust these plans according to the size of the blocks to be extracted.

    The main applications are the preparation of rock cuttings and the quarrying of solid rock, either for the production of aggregates or riprap....
