SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
A type of electron microscope that produces images of a sample by scanning the surface with a focused beam of electrons. The electrons interact with atoms in the sample, producing various signals that contain information about the surface topography and composition of the sample, with spatial resolutions in nm range.
Bandgap
In solid-state physics, an energy range in a solid where no electronic states can exist. In graphs of the electronic band structure of solids, the band gap, also called the energy gap, generally refers to the energy difference (in electron volts, eV) between the top of the valence band and the bottom of the conduction band in insulators and semiconductors.
