6. Conclusion
Sources based on optical parametric amplification in hollow fibers deliver intense, tunable ultrashort pulses. The process is based on four-wave mixing with phase tuning. The characteristics of the fibers and gas enable important parameters, such as dispersion and non-linearity, to be scanned in real time. Although these systems are based on fibers, their integration is still limited, even if gas trapping can be achieved by welding the ends together, to the detriment of pressure adjustment.
One of the objectives of future ultrafast sources based on parametric processes is to reach the mid-infrared range. Hollow photonic fibers are becoming increasingly mature in this spectral window, opening up new fields of application, notably in spectroscopic analysis and biomedical applications.
