4. OCT functional extensions

Various extensions to OCT have been developed to add functional information and new contrasts to morphological tissue images. Doppler OCT and angiographic OCT enable the study of tissue microvascularization. Polarized light OCT is sensitive to structural organization. Tissue mechanical properties can be assessed with elastographic OCT. Local spectroscopic information can be obtained by spectral analysis of the interference signal detected by OCT.

4.1 Doppler OCT and angiographic OCT

Doppler OCT was one of the first functional extensions of OCT
