 INTRODUCTION

During an isothermal reaction or transformation taking place at constant pressure, the amount of heat received, or supplied, by the system is equal to its enthalpy variation.

If the reaction is endothermic, energy must be supplied to the system and the enthalpy change, ΔH, is positive.

If the reaction is exothermic, it develops by releasing heat, and the enthalpy variation, ΔH, is negative.
