2. Characteristic values
The characteristic quantities of commercial osmosis membranes have been grouped into eight groups. These are :
of supply, which specifies the manufacturer's name, brand and membrane code;
structural properties, which indicate the nature of the active layer;
physico-chemical properties, which include the values of the cut-off point and the rejection rate, the compound used for the measurement usually being sodium chloride;
transfer properties, including flow-to-water density and recovery rate;
mechanical properties, which give the operating pressure (maximum or recommended);
of the outfit, which reports the temperature and pH of the environment;
