3.1 Working environment
Until the risks and toxicity of nano-objects are clearly defined, it is advisable to apply the precautionary principle when handling them. The risks of penetration into the human body by inhalation are particularly high for nano-objects suspended in the atmosphere. On the other hand, the risk of skin contamination remains regardless of the medium (liquid or gaseous) in which nano-objects are dispersed.
Consequently, workers need to protect themselves as much as possible from the little-known risks associated with nano-objects. It is advisable to monitor the worker's environment for possible contamination of the workplace (laboratory, process or packaging area, etc.).
