ABSTRACT

This article attempts to provide an industrial solution to the unitary screening operations and the usage of equipment specific to this technique. The increasingly high number of screen models has led to an increase in the size and above all the width of screens. Making the right choice is not easy, all the more so as the screening process currently includes several functions. What criteria of choice is to be adopted with regards to the constraints on use? Then, how is the calculation of a screen to be performed? The concrete situation of the mechanical preparation of minerals has been selected in this article in order to illustrate in a better way the designing approach of a screening operation.

 INTRODUCTION

This second dossier on screening provides an industrial response to unit screening operations and the use of the equipment described in the first dossier [J 3 101] . The engineer may find himself in a variety of situations:

  • where he must choose a device according to a certain number of usage constraints;

  • where he has to calculate a screen, in which case his approach differs depending on whether he's a designer or a user.

In order to present a concrete situation, we focus on the mechanical preparation of ores, a case which is all the more interesting as each ore and each beneficiation plant has its own specificities. It is nevertheless necessary to emphasize the observations that need to be made to define a case realistically.
