INTRODUCTION
PVC (or polyvinyl chloride) is the world's most widely used plastic, in rigid or plasticized form, for a wide range of applications (cables, pipes, sheets, films and foils) in the building, packaging and footwear industries.
PVC is manufactured by polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer in four processes.
The "mass" process, the subject of this article, accounts for around 8% of total production tonnage.
