In process engineering, the mathematical model is an excellent means of capitalizing on knowledge, and can be seen as an essential vector for transferring knowledge acquired in research to operational and decision-making units. It enables us to understand the physical, chemical and biological phenomena involved, so we can better design, optimize, operate, control and develop material transformation processes.
