INTRODUCTION
Firstly, the main rheological behaviors of industrial pastes are presented, along with criteria for selecting mixers to handle these complex media. Then, the available correlations, concerning more specifically stirred tank type mixers, are analyzed with regard to stirring power, mixing time and heat transfer, with emphasis on the effects of the rheological complexities of pasty media; the rare correlations relating to other types of mixers will be presented in more detail. .
