1. Representation of balances
This study is limited to the case of ternary systems.
The effect of pressure on liquid-liquid equilibria is generally negligible. We shall therefore limit ourselves here to the representation of liquid phases. The only variables to be taken into account are temperature and composition .
A ternary system can be fully described using a three-dimensional diagram. The sections of this prism at constant temperature are either triangular diagrams 1.1.1
