1. Kerosene isomerization reaction
1.1 Thermodynamic aspect
Isomerization is a balanced reaction with low exotherm (4 to 20 kJ/mol).
Since the formation of branched structures (high-octane isomers) is favoured at low temperatures (see figure 1 ), the industrial aim is to operate at as low a temperature as possible. But whatever the operating temperature, a mixture of normal kerosenes and isoparaffins is always obtained at the reactor outlet.
