2.1 Emergence of a new way of thinking

An alternative to this Cartesian approach, and one of the most promising ways of tackling this unprecedented change, is most likely to be found in the systems approach. Descartes' reductionist, analytical approach taught us that, in order to tackle a complex situation, we should "divide each of the difficulties I examine into as many parts as might be required to solve them better.
