5. Main areas of application for SMHG

The application of these techniques has made it possible to extend magnetic separation to ores that are not economically recoverable by other methods, or to other sectors of activity. Above all, this method has made it possible to push back the technical limits of separation to ultra-fine particles, and for similar, if not better, purification yields, presents an economic interest in terms of lower operating costs.

This application can be found in :

  • purification of products intended for the glass or ceramics industries and requiring a high purification rate (kaolin clays, sands, nepheline syenites);

  • removal of sulfides from pulverized coals used in thermal and power plants;

  • purification of industrial water (metallurgy and iron and steel), urban water...
