1. Types of electrochemical reactions

1.1 Reactions in homogeneous media

In the simplest case, the addition (reduction) or subtraction (oxidation) of electron(s) simply results in a change in the charge carried by the electroactive substance, without any change in its atomic composition (electrochemical system of simple charge transfer).
