1.1 Tray operation
On crossflow trays, material transfer takes place between an ascending gas phase and a liquid phase moving horizontally across the tray. The liquid flows from one tray to the other via an overflow.
Tray operation depends on the physical properties of each phase and their respective flow rates. This is described in the following paragraphs ( 1.3 , 1.4
