2. Mineral resources
Boron abundance is of the order of 3 ppm (or g/t) in the earth's crust, 10 ppm in continental crust and 4.5 mg/L in seawater . The main resources are borate ores and brines.

Borate ores are made up of the mineral species listed in Table 1 , but there are over 230 boron-bearing mineral species
