In situ or ex situ bioremediation process that consists in increasing the biological purification capacity of a polluted site or waste by introducing micro-organisms selected for their high capacity to biodegrade certain contaminants.

Biological degradation of organic contaminants involving specific catabolic enzyme systems synthesized by certain organisms.
