7. Conclusion

In summary, it is now clear that IP telephony is advantageous for a number of reasons.

  • First of all, there are the immediate reasons for merging networks: ToIP offers substantial savings on calls by enabling the use of a network that doesn't charge for sending information, but only for the infrastructure.

    What's more, the infrastructure in question is built on the IP network architecture already in place, which has the added advantage of simplifying physical installation on the premises and combining connections to the outside world.

    The widespread use of powered Ethernet ports means that each terminal doesn't even need access to the electrical network, as it draws power directly from its RJ45 socket.
