7. Conclusion

In this article, we review the principles driving the cell phone market, from its players to the various business models. We've also listed the features common to mobile environments in terms of security, and explored a few avenues for security-enhancing technologies. Finally, we listed the trends that have the potential to influence the mobile ecosystem. In the face of these trends, we can foresee two opposing paths: the reinforcement of security with the return of control to the user (eager for confidentiality, trust and control of his environment) or the switch of services and applications to the cloud (with the cell phone becoming only a more or less weak relay in the value chain). Whichever trend the mobile world chooses, technology already has the means to meet security requirements, either on the mobile client side, or on the cloud server side.
