2. Use and production
Adobe has described several contexts in which PDF can be used. Originally, PDF existed because PostScript documents had to pass through several people before being finally printed. For example, to produce a sales brochure, customer approval is essential. In the case of a business report, several people may have to read and comment on it before it's ready.
Some other documents, such as software user manuals, were very quickly distributed in PDF format, to make it easier to find information online.
The PDF format has mainly found fans in traditional publishing. Numerous conferences have been published both on paper and on CD-Rom in PDF format, to facilitate access, as have newspapers and magazines such as Le Monde, Libération, L'Express, etc., which are already produced digitally.
