1. History
Initially, "The 3 Amigos": James Rumbaugh (father of the OMT method/notation, Object Modelling Technic), Grady Booch (father of the Booch method/notation) and Ivar Jacobson (father of the OOSE method/notation, Object Oriented Software Engineering, based, among other things, on use cases) wanted to develop a modeling process. But achieving such a result, which could be used in any business, soon seemed utopian. So they concentrated on notation, which gave rise first to UML and then to SysML, both of which are in operational use today.
