An indispensable quality of a geological model is its consistency. All reconnaissance methods involve making and interpreting observations and measurements. Observations and measurements can only be made from the ground surface or from excavations (boreholes, galleries, trenches, wells, etc.): their interpretation must lead to a description of the subsoil throughout its volume. This is where consistency comes into play: interpretations must be compatible. The more varied the methods used, the greater the constraints on interpretation, and the greater the reliability of the geological model based on the consistency criterion.
