1. ATSC system (8-VSB)

This is the system used in the United States. The synoptic diagram is shown in figure 1 .

The system is a suite of equipment that adapts the baseband signals output by the MPEG-2 transport multiplexer to the terrestrial transmission channel.

The following processing is applied to the data stream:

  • multiplex adaptation and patching ;

  • Reed Solomon;

  • external interlacing ;

  • internal coding ;

  • synchronization and drivers ;

  • AM modulation;

  • Nyquist filtering ;

  • 8-VSB transmission....
